Summer 2002 Currents

Environmental Education Workshops This August, the Saugus River Watershed Council and the Metropolitan District Commission will again host a series of FREE educator workshops at Camp Nihan in Saugus. These workshops are open to anyone involved in environmental education. Past participants include teachers, scout leaders, naturalists, park rangers, and camp directors. The following programs will be offered: Project WET 14 August, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Environmental activities based on the physical and biological properties of water. Spineless Aquatic Creatures 15 August, 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Activities for using aquatic invertebrates as water quality indicators. Secrets of the Salt Marsh 16 August, 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Activities for studying a salt marsh. Project WILD 21 August, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Environmental activities based on wildlife. Project Learning Tree 22 August, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Environmental activities based on trees. Wondrous Wetlands 23 August, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Activities for studying a freshwater marsh.
