Volunteers Clean up Riverfront
On 29 June, SRWC members and friends worked together to remove over a ton of debris from banks of the Saugus River near the Saugus Iron Works and Saville Road area of Saugus. Trash in the area was primarily the result of illegal dumping. Items such as an old swing set, fencing, bottles, cans, bags, tires, and other trash were cleaned up.
Special thanks to Town Manager Steve Angelo and the Saugus Department of Public Works for their assistance in providing staff and vehicles to transport the trash to RESCO.
Thanks also to RESCO for taking the trash, and the Saugus Iron Works for helping to coordinate the event.
Partial funding for this cleanup project and the Councils efforts to prevent illegal dumping throughout the watershed is provided by a grant from the Massachusetts Riverways Program.
