SRWC 2002 Annual Picnic
Children look at wildlife signs with SRWC Board Member David Eatough, June 2002On a breezy June evening, approximately 60 people joined the Saugus River Watershed Council for our Annual Picnic at the Saugus Iron Works. This years event drew families from throughout the watershed along with about 25 children. Guests dined on picnic suppers while enjoying musical performances by Pillayella (courtesy of Dave Simmons and friends). Guests learned about the Iron Works history from National Park Service employees and discussed watershed issues with Council staff and board members.
Children had fun examining a collection of wildlife signs brought by SRWC Board Member Dave Eatough, and then headed down to the river with SRWC Education Coordinator Nicole Cave-Luongo to scoop and identify periwinkle snails, and bugs such as caddisfly and scuds. A great time was had by all.
Special thanks to all of the staff at the Saugus Iron Works for helping to make this years picnic a great success. Thanks also to Wild Oats Natural Marketplace, Route 1, Saugus, for donating a delicious cake.
