SRWC Offers Marsh Ecology
Youth Education ProgramsThis Spring, the Saugus River Watershed Council is offering free Marsh Ecology youth education programs for schools within the Saugus River watershed. Programs are suitable for grades 6 through 12 and will run during May and June.
Through field exploration and hands-on science activities, students will learn about what lives in a marsh, how plants and animals have adapted to marsh life, differences between salt and fresh water marshes, and how marsh plants and animals act as water quality indicators.
These programs meet aspects of Strand 1: Inquiry, Strand 2: Life Sciences and Strand 4: Science, Technology, and Human Affairs for grades 6 through 12.
Programs will include classroom activities followed by field exploration at Reedy Meadow, Rumney Marsh, or Camp Nihan.
For registration or more information please contact Nicole Cave-Luongo at (781) 233-5046 or nicolecave99@yahoo.com.
