Summer 2001 Currents

Around the Watershed

In a site out of the history books, the Lewis H. Story, a Chebacco boat commissioned by the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, sailed up the Sauhgus River this Spring. SRWC trustees Him Hohmann, Ray Maes, and Kathy Wrynn joined trip organizer Charles Burnam fo rhte sail from Vitale Park to the Boston Street Bridge and back. Thanks to Charles Burnam for his committment to promoting access on the Saugus River.

Members and friends joined the Saugus River Watershed Council for our Annual Picnic at the Saugus Iron Works in June. Warm breezes combined with music by Pillayella helped make the evening enjoyable for all. Children explored the Iron Works and enjoyed face painting. The evening ended with a delicious cake to help celebrate the Saugus River Watershed Council’s 10th Anniversary. Special thanks the Saugus Iron Works for hosting the picnic and to Dave Simmons and Dick Lynch for coordinating music.
