SPRING 2001 Currents

Annual Picnic 26 June 2001

Join Saugus River Watershed Council members and friends for a picnic on Tuesday evening, 26 June at the Saugus River Iron Works form 6:00 p.m. to dusk.

We will provide complementary drinks and dessert. Bring your own picnic supper and blanket. Guests will enjoy an evening of music and fun activities for the whole family.

Children will explore the Iron Works buildings, enjoy natural wonders of the Saugus River Trail, and participate in games, arts and crafts, face painting and more.

To RSVP for the picnic, please call the Saugus River Watershed Council at 781-233-5046.

The Saugus Iron Works is the site of the first integrated ironworks in North America. It includes the reconstructed blast furnace, forge, rolling mill, and restored 17th century house. The site's setting along the Saugus river features an open air museum with working waterwheels.

This summer the Iron Works will host a series of outdoor concerts on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. from 11 July through 13 August. Bring your own chairs or blankets.
