Over 80 members and friends joined the Saugus River Watershed Council for our Annual Meeting and Dinner at Prince Restaurant in Saugus on 29 March 2001.

This lively event included a delicious Italian buffet dinner followed by an update about the Council's 2001 programs, and an informative slide show by wildlife tracker David Brown highlighting the "Hidden Wildlife of the Saugus River Watershed". Special 10th Anniversary River Stewardship Awards were presented by the Council to:

Jim Comeau for long term dedication to preserving open space and natural areas throughout the Saugus River watershed.

Dorothea "Dot" James for increasing public awareness of the wildlife and beauty of the Saugus River watershed through her art work.
Fred LeBlanc for increasing public access to the Saugus River by introducing hundreds of people to the River's beauty and natural resources through canoe trips.
